Trivia Corner

American photographer Harry Whittier Frees (1879–1953) became internationally famous for his novelty photographs of posed, dressed animals. To achieve these incredibly complex shots, Frees utilized custom miniature clothing stiffened with hidden pins, hidden wires, and custom-built miniature furniture to hold the live animals in human-like poses for the duration of the long exposure times required by early 20th-century camera equipment.
