Original Imperial Japanese Army (IJA) Khaki Field Cap

This is an authentic Imperial Japanese Army enlisted/NCO khaki field cap (combat cap), believed to have been manufactured between 1938 and 1940 (Showa 13–15).

The cap is in remarkably well-preserved condition for its age, with only minor signs of wear and a few small moth holes. The original machine-sewn metal star insignia remains securely attached.

Based on the materials and construction, this cap is believed to date from the early years of the Type 98 period. It features a bright yellowish-khaki wool fabric, a distinctive pigskin sweatband, and an original linen inner structure, details that are difficult to reproduce accurately.

The chinstrap also appears to be original and is a particularly attractive feature of this example.

Details

Original early-war khaki field caps have become increasingly difficult to find, especially examples in this condition. This is an excellent collectible for Imperial Japanese Army, WWII militaria, and historical military headgear collectors.

Please examine all photos carefully, as they are an important part of the description.
