ARTIST: ESTHER WOOD SCHNEIDER LISTED SANTA BARBARA CA CALIFORNIA PLEIN AIR LANDSCAPE OIL. Signed lower right, "Esther Wood Schneider". Oil on canvas. Titled on the back on original backing paper and attached at bottom edge of frame, artist label titled "3. The Hills of Camp Comfort" (see photos). Camp Comfort is aprox. 1 mile from Ojai, painting appears to have been painted around the late 30s to early 40's 1940 since the artist was in Santa Barbara, CA at that time and died in 1943. A rare example by this artist, early Ojai / Ventura County landscape scene. LISTED: Askart, MutualArt, Hughes - Artists in California 1786-1940. "Esther Wood Schneider was born in California on April 17, 1879. While a resident of Riverside in 1932, Schneider painted landscapes and coastal scenes.
