Size: 14.2 cm x 22.9 cm.

The front flyleaf reads:

"Gareth Edwards become the youngest player ever to captain Wales at rugby when in 1968, at the age of twenty, he led his national side to victory over Scotland.

He has subsequently become the most capped international ever to play for Wales, and he has established himself as the finest scrum-ball in rugby.

Gareth Edwards, the son of a miner, was born in a small village in South Wales called Gwaun-Cae Garwen, but won a scholarship to Millfield, an exclusive boarding school, where the contrast in background between himself and most of the other pupils was extreme. But the opportunities put before him at no time made him change his ambitions, or his friends. He loves his home environment - he still lives in South Wales - and has always retained the same engaging and friendly personality.

With enormous humour and warmth this beautifully written book tells the success story of a magnificent and unspoilt athlete who recognises his good fortune, and is determined not to lose his sense of fun as well as the responsible set of values he learnt as a child in the Welsh valleys.

This book traces the author's remarkable rugby career from his early boyhood to the present day - but more through the personalities concerned than through match results, and sport as a whole is integrated with the characters and relationships which have affected his upbringing and his views on life."

In good condition. Please see the photos - they form part of the description.

Signed by the author on the title page.

Some minor shelf wear, creasing & scuffing to the dust jacket. There is a tiny tear to the top front corner of the dust jacket. The boards are in very good condition. The binding is very good. The flyleaves & pages are yellowed due to age. The former owner's name has been blacked out with felt pen and a blue pen line remains on the front endpaper. There is a very small mark to three pages & to the back endpapers. No creased, torn or missing pages.

This is a used item. I have described it as well as I can.
