LARGE Antique 20th c. Chinese Bok Choy Cabbage Leaf Baicai Punch Bowl 11 3/4''

Dimension: 11.75 inches (30cm) wide

This is a beautiful **Republic of China (1912-1949)** era Chinese export punch bowl, crafted in the classic **Guangcai (Canton enamelware)** style. It features a stunning famille verte palette with vibrant green, yellow, blue, and pink enamels, all accented with delicate gold detailing.

The bowl is decorated with a continuous pattern of overlapping cabbage (bok choy) leaves, known as "bai cai" in Chinese, which is a homophone for "hundred wealth," symbolizing prosperity and good fortune. Interspersed among the leaves are colorful butterflies, representing longevity (the word "butterfly" shares a root with the character for "old age"). At the center of the bowl is a gilded "shou" character, reinforcing the theme of longevity. The rim is adorned with an ornate floral border, a hallmark of high-quality Guangcai export porcelain.
