This classic retro futuristic spaceship is metallic silver plastic and has a great shine. It is in great condition (no chips, breaks or cracks) and is about 5 inches by 5 inches.  The Marx logo can be found stamped under the left wing, and a backwards stamped 2 under the right wing.

This is one of four atomic-age, hard plastic spaceships produced by Marx in the 1950's. Each ship was stamped under the wing with a mold number 1and  had a unique design, although all all four ships shared similar features - same tires, same material and approximately the same size. They either came in silver, gold/bronze, maroon and dark green. All with a nice metallic sheen. 

There is no clear history that I could find behind these toys.  Likely produced in the early 1950s when Marx started producing polystyrene plastic (rigid hard plastic) toys. It wasn’t sold as part of a play set, so it is assumed these were sold individually or as a set of four in dime stores.
