Antique Jas. Shoolbred & Co London Oak Hall Chair
A wonderful and authentic antique oak hall chair by Jas. Shoolbred & Co of Tottenham Court Road, London, one of the most respected Victorian furniture retailers and cabinet makers of the late 19th and early 20th century.
This superb example features richly carved oak throughout, including elegant barley twist supports, floral carvings, pierced Gothic-inspired decoration, and beautifully detailed shell motifs. The quality of craftsmanship is evident from every angle, making it both a practical chair and an impressive decorative statement piece.
The chair retains its original Jas. Shoolbred & Co retailer's label, adding excellent provenance and confirming its London origins. The upholstered seat and back panel have been sympathetically renewed at some point during its life, while the original oak frame remains intact and displays a wonderful aged patina developed over many decades.
A fantastic piece for a period home, country house, library, study, hallway, manor house, or antique furniture collection.
