Vintage Venetian Glass African Barter Bead Necklace Pendant.  Color theme of  Red White and Blue.  The glass beads are antique dating back to African slave trade days.  The necklace itself dates back to the mid 1970's.  African artisans created unique necklaces from the beads which were then sold to provide funding for educational projects in their countries.  I bought this one for my mother as a Christmas gift because I thought the red, white and blue color theme would be something she could use to brighten her work wardrobe.  It was never worn as I determined when looking through her estate.  It's a one-of-a-kind.  The brass washer at the bottom is also antique as they salvaged such parts from shipwrecks.  The cord forming the necklace is approx. 13-1/2 on each side of ending bead group (1-1/2" drop).  23 total antique Venetian beads plus the antique brass washer.
