Antique Edward VII royal souvenir sewing companion needle case.
This small Edwardian sewing companion features a portrait of H.M. King Edward VII set into an ornate metal case. The top section is stamped "Austria", indicating manufacture in Austria for export to the British market, likely around the time of the coronation in 1902.
The case opens to reveal a miniature sewing kit including thread spools. Inside the thread spool are several small needles and pins, showing how the piece functioned as a compact travelling sewing companion. A metal thimble and decorative tassel are also included.
These small sewing companions were popular Edwardian souvenirs and are now sought after by collectors of royal memorabilia, antique sewing tools and unusual small household antiques.
A charming and unusual antique sewing accessory.
