Here is a Royal Copenhagen Cylindrical Vase or Pencil holder, with a UNIQUE blue fluted design by painter Anna Smidth.

This is an extremely rare and special piece!! Anna Smidth (1861-1951) held painter number 27 in the late 1800s.

From danporantik.de:
"Anna Smidth whose brother was the architect Philip Smidth, was employed at The Royal Copenhagen Porcelain in the period when Arnold Krog was the artistic director and later director from 1885 until 1915. She was one of those very special female artists that worked under her inspiration and painted independently and created images on vases, pots, plates, etc. Her flower and landscape paintings were stylized, elegant executed and were often influenced by Japanese art. She was educated by E. Mundt and M. Luplaus."

This piece is factory first quality, in excellent condition. It was made and hand painted in Denmark in the period 1894-1900. Anna Smidth's painter number 27 appears on the base of the piece along with no other pattern or model numbers. The piece is the same size as the blue fluted plain pencil holder number 478.

The piece measures approximately 3 9/16 inches tall, with a 2 1/2 inch rim diameter.

The vase or container has no chips or cracks or repairs. I see no obvious signs of use or wear. There are some small firing marks / pinholes in the glaze. These are normal and discrete, from factory production -- see final 3 photos in particular.

It is a very special and unique piece that deserves its place in any collection!
