History
The Jubilee Medal “For Valiant Labour in Commemoration of the 100th Anniversary of the Birth of Vladimir Ilyich Lenin” was established on 5 November 1969 to mark the centenary of Vladimir Ilyich Lenin (1870–1970).
The decoration was awarded to workers, engineers, scientists, teachers, collective farmers, public servants and other citizens who demonstrated outstanding achievements in labour and made significant contributions to the development of the Soviet state. Millions were awarded throughout the USSR, but named medals accompanied by their original award booklets are far more desirable to collectors.
The obverse features a profile of Vladimir Lenin with the dates 1870–1970, while the reverse (not shown) carries the inscription commemorating valiant labour in honour of Lenin’s centenary.
This example is especially collectible because it remains complete with its original named certificate issued in the Latvian SSR, preserving the recipient’s identity and historical provenance.
