NRMT item. Very rare, sought-after CD promo of SPIDER-MAN - Music from the KPM Record Library private, unofficial 1960s Original Animated Television series.

Spider-Man was a popular animated series based on the Marvel Comics character that ran on ABC from 1967 to 1970. Considered very hip and cutting-edge back in the day for kids watching cartoons in late 1960s. During the 1970s & 1980s it remained hugely popular in re-runs. Part of the reason for this late '60s animated series' popularity was the instrumental swingin' jazzy musical score.

While the initial 1967 season used an original score, the second and third seasons began to introduce tracks from music libraries distributed by Emil Ascher, Inc. (KPM Music, Conroy, JW Theme Music, Impress, Ultra Music Services, Video Moods), Major Records/Valentino, and Capitol Production Music.

KPM Music library provided iconic, quirky, groovy instrumental tracks for the classic 1967 Spider-Man cartoon, featuring composers like Syd Dale, Alan Hawkshaw, and Bill Martin & Phil Coulter with cues such as "The Washington Affair, "Walk in a Nightmare," and "Juggernaut," creating a distinct 60s spy/jazz-funk sound for Spidey's adventures, now celebrated on compilations like Spider-Jazz.  Note: Some cues have dialogue from the show!
45 tracks & 65 minutes

Why It Matters
  • Unique Sound: These library cues gave the animated Spider-Man its signature funky, suspenseful, and sometimes quirky sound, differentiating it from other superhero themes.
  • Production Music: KPM (Keystone Production Music) specializes in library music, meaning these tracks were licensed for various media, but became synonymous with Spidey.
  • Rediscovery: Modern compilations like Spider-Jazz highlight these specific KPM tracks used in the show, bringing them new life.
Original owner (from my personal collection), only I have handled this item. A Must for any serious fan of cool animated 1960/70s television series or simply cool jazz music. Someone will cherish this keeper for their own film/television score collection. Once it's gone, it's gone. The only one I have. Gem item.
