- Near Fine Plus (NF+) --- This is essentially a perfect piece of sheet music. Many to most of the items with this grade are new, but may have a store stamp.
- Near Fine (NF) --- A piece that has a couple of minor flaws or one moderate flaw but has no major flaws
- Near Fine Minus (NF-) --- A piece that has both minor and moderate flaws and may have one major flaw such as a small crease or dog ear.
- Very Good (VG) --- A generally used but taken care of piece of sheet music, including small spine splits due to use.
- Good (G) --- A well used piece of sheet music that has seen better days but is still acceptable and usable.
Any piece of sheet music that is not complete is not sold.
NOTE------The highest we grade sheet music is Near Fine Plus. We do this because it is so easy for an item to have a bumped corner or a small dog ear, and it has been known to happen during shipping. Even though we sandwich all sheet music between cardboard for shipping purposes.
Most of our sheet music comes from purchases we have made in quantity when a music store goes out of business due to either retirement of financial situations. These items, although they are new, are graded Near Fine Plus as they may contain a store stamp.
Grading Standards -
Song Books:
- New --- A book that has never been read.
- As New (AN) --- A book that has been read but looks as if it is New. The book must show no flaws of any kind. The pages must be tight as if just published.
- Fine (F) --- A book that has 1 or 2 very minor flaws and still retains tight pages.
- Near Fine (NF+) --- A book that is in better than Near Fine but is not quite in Fine condition.
- Near Fine (NF) --- A book that has a few minor flaws and 1 or 2 moderate flaws. A light reading crease on the spine is allowed
- Near Fine - (NF-) ---A book that has many minor flaws and up to 4 moderate flaws. A reading crease either on the spine or along the front edge of the spine is allowed as is a very light cover crease at one of the corners.
- Very Good + (VG+) --- A book that has many moderate flaws and may have cover creasing. It usually has reading creases, and may have a name inside the book.
- Very Good (VG) --- A book that looks like the common book found in a used book store or thrift shop. The book usually contains numerous moderate and a few major flaws, it may have some staining on the back cover. Very Good condition books are not collectible unless a higher quality book is expensive. This is the lowest grade book we carry with a few exceptions.
- Very Good - (VG-) ---A book that has Creasing, heavy wear, and numerous flaws both moderate and major. This book is definitely a reading copy.
- Good (G) --- A book that belongs in either the trash or the library.
- Ex-Library (XL) --- A book that has been removed from the library. This book is graded as above. An Ex-Library book Can be graded Very Good + at best.
