About Vinyl Valhalla: We collect vintage, rare & obscure vinyl, instruments, amps, tapes, CDs, books & memorabilia & find good new homes. We aren't dealers.
We don't sell new, or grade vinyl Mint or Near Mint. If you want like new, don't buy from us. Our vinyl is mostly Very Good to Very Good Plus. That means decent quality, visually checked & reasonable prices. Occasionally there's something special higher or lower.

*There is no standard grading system. There are many and they can cause confusion. For example eBay EX does not mean Near Mint. We apply eBay VG based on the Goldmine standard: "When played, a VG record has surface noise, and some scratches may be audible".

Different grading systems in use for vinyl and related media:
#1 eBay
#2 Goldmine system (used by Discogs)
#3 Record Collector Magazine system (similar to eBay but not the same)
#4 The Basic Universal Grading System

To add to the confusion, many Vinyl, tape & CD sellers don't specify which system they are using and some don't use systems correctly, So, while many sellers don't show you close up surface pictures, we do. They you can make your own mind up

We don't play test. Each time you play valuable vintage vinyl you are adding wear and risking an accident. Dealers who claim they play test, often don't for that reason (and because it is uneconomically time consuming). So our grading is visual and indicative. We supply buyers close up pictures, some sellers don't. So, look at the pictures and if you don't agree with the grade, don't buy.

We do a basic clean on vinyl but expect buyers to clean vinyl themselves before playing.

Our Vinyl and Book edition information is based on our research. Discogs is not 100% complete or accurate. You are free to do your own.

Vintage cassette tapes can be fragile with weak leaders, creasing, cinching and shedding oxide. That means you can't safely check them end to end. Plus, problems buyers experience replaying them can come from the buyers deck - dirty heads or unreliable motors. So we only do a visual check.

We don't usually set up instruments or add new strings - strings and action are personal preferences. That keeps our costs to you down.

Restoration guitars are SOLD AS SEEN as they may need additional work.

We do not check every single page of a book. All books are sold as seen.

If Vintage is your thing, we're on the same wavelength.
