Add water to the burner dish followed by a few drops of oil.
Never apply essential oil directly to the flame. Do not allow the burner dish to dry out and never leave a lit burner unattended.
Essential oils are highly concentrated and should not normally be applied directly to the skin.
Dilute the selected oil in a suitable carrier oil before use. The correct dilution depends on:
The individual essential oil
The intended application
The age of the user
The area of the body
The frequency of use
Relevant safety restrictions
Some oils have very low permitted skin usage levels. Always refer to the product-specific safety information before preparing a skin-contact blend.
Do not add undiluted essential oil directly to bath water. Essential oils do not dissolve in water and require an appropriate dispersing or solubilising ingredient.
Always check that the selected oil is compatible with your wax, soap base or other ingredients.
Essential oils can behave differently during manufacturing. Heat, curing and interaction with other ingredients may alter the finished aroma.
Make a small test batch before producing larger quantities.
Recommended usage percentages vary between oils and applications. Follow the safety data, IFRA guidance where applicable and the instructions supplied with your chosen base materials.
For external and aromatic use only
Do not swallow
Do not use undiluted on the skin
Avoid contact with eyes and sensitive areas
Keep away from children and pets
Keep away from heat, sparks and open flames
Store upright in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight
Wash hands after handling concentrated oils
Stop using the product if irritation occurs
Some citrus oils may increase the skin's sensitivity to sunlight, depending on the oil and extraction method.
Some spice, herb and resin oils may require particularly low skin concentrations.
Extra care may be required when selecting oils for children, during pregnancy or breastfeeding, for people with medical conditions, or for use around animals. Seek advice from a suitably qualified professional where appropriate.
