I have priced this Bible very generously considering the condition listed below. King James’ bibles are getting very pricey. So many people discovering antique Bible especially the very old ones

1655 edition of the King James Version (KJV/Authorized Version) Bible, printed in London for the Stationers’ Company, including the metrical Psalter by Sternhold and Hopkins.

Approximately 900–1,200 pages total (including the bound Sternhold & Hopkins Psalter), depending on the exact format and any additional sections in your copy.

The general title and New Testament title both clearly show “LONDON, Printed by E.T. for a Societie of Stationers, 1655” (E.T. refers to printer Evan Tyler, who produced multiple editions for the Stationers’ Company). The ornate woodcut border with the twelve tribes of Israel (left, with tents/shields) and the twelve apostles (right) is a classic design often associated with 17th-century KJV printings.

• Text: Standard KJV layout, starting with Genesis (your photo shows Chapter 1). The language and formatting match the mid-17th-century editions

• Psalter: Bound with “The Whole Book of Psalms” collected into English metre by Thomas Sternhold, John Hopkins, and others (1655, Company of Stationers imprint), a very common companion to Bibles of this era for congregational singing.

Historical Context and Condition Notes

• 1655 context: This was during the Commonwealth/Protectorate period (post-Civil War, pre-Restoration). Bibles like this were widely printed for church and home use amid religious upheaval. The KJV had been the standard since 1611, but these mid-century editions often had decorative borders and were bound with the popular Sternhold-Hopkins psalms.
