Rare antique Catholic Carmelite scapular necklace crafted in silver and featuring an unusual sliding-panel construction with original devotional cloth inserts.

The front depicts Our Lady of Mount Carmel (Virgin Mary with the Christ Child) on one panel and the Sacred Heart of Jesus on the other. The reverse bears Spanish devotional inscriptions associated with Carmelite devotion:

"Madre Mía del Carmen"

("My Mother of Carmel")

and

"Protégeme en la Vida y en la Muerte"

("Protect me in life and in death")

Unlike most devotional medals, this example features two functioning sliding panels housing original cloth scapular inserts.

Both original sliding devotional inserts remain present:

One insert retains a white cloth panel with a printed image of Our Lady of Mount Carmel.

The reverse of this insert retains original brown scapular cloth.

The second insert retains original brown devotional scapular cloth.

All textile elements appear original to the piece.

The cloth inserts show expected age-related fading, darkening, discoloration, wear, and loss consistent with long devotional use.

The piece bears small silver hallmarks on the side of one panel. The marks are present but difficult to fully interpret due to their small size and age-related wear.
