Collection
Up for sale is a fantastic instant collection of vintage, German-made Hohner harmonicas sourced from a local estate. This 4-piece variety pack covers all the major styles—Tremolo, Chromatic, and Diatonic—making it an incredible pickup for collectors, studio musicians, or anyone looking to expand their vintage instrument toolkit.
Every harmonica in this lot has been gently surface-cleaned (external plates buffed, pocket debris safely cleared from chambers) and fully tested in working musical order.
What’s Included in This Estate Lot:
1. Hohner Echo Elite Double-Sided Tremolo Harmonica (Keys of C & G)
The Details: A legendary piece of American industrial design history created by John Vassos. Features a striking Streamline Moderne / Art Deco ribbed chrome grille and a vibrant red enameled finish. Stamped "C" on one side of the blue wood comb and "G" on the other.
Condition: Displays beautiful vintage character with typical minor paint chipping along the red enameled corners and edges from age.
Bonus: Includes its rare, original red, blue, and silver Art Deco cardboard display box (shows expected vintage edge wear but remains fully intact).
2. Hohner Chrometta 12 Chromatic Harmonica (Key of C)
The Details: A classic 3-octave German chromatic harp featuring large mouthpiece holes and a slick red plastic comb designed to resist moisture swelling.
Condition: The slide mechanism is responsive, smooth, and springs back perfectly. The chrome cover plates show normal vintage hairline scratches, light tarnish spots, and minor oxidation near the seams.
Bonus: Includes its original burgundy faux-leather snap case.
3. Hohner Marine Band No. 1896 Diatonic Harmonica #1 (Key of C)
The Details: The definitive blueprint for traditional blues harp tone, featuring a pearwood comb and the vintage post-1937 "No Star" prize medal cover design. Stamped "A440" concert pitch.
Condition: Nice, clean vintage condition with light surface scuffs and standard aging on the wood comb.
4. Hohner Marine Band No. 1896 Diatonic Harmonica #2 (Key of C)
The Details: A matched Key of C companion to the first Marine Band, sharing the same classic post-1937 design.
Condition: This harp features a heavy, dark "relic" patina with crusty corrosion and pitting around the edge plates and securing nails. It has an incredible, rugged vintage look and remains fully playable, though it can also serve as excellent donor parts for a pre-war restoration.
