With every further publication, Jazz Is Dead recognizes the legendary musician legendary who have shaped jazz over generations, genres and continents. For the latest edition, the label worked with the late Tony Allen , who is primarily known for his work as a drummer of Fela Kutis Africa 70. In the course of his career, Allen defined the AfroBeat sound by linking radio and jazz influences with Nigerian highlife and thus creating a cross-cultural dialogue that can be heard worldwide. It was a great honor for us to welcome Mr. Allen in summer 2018 to a very special recording session in the Linear Labs Studio, and we could no longer be happy to share these decisive and almost funny recordings with them.
