Olympia Monica Typewriter — 1971 West Germany

A beautifully preserved Olympia Monica portable typewriter from 1971 in an elegant original white finish with contrasting black keys and a durable metal body. A perfect example of clean and functional West German industrial design from the early 1970s.

Manufactured by Olympia Werke — one of the most respected names in typewriter history — the Monica series became known for combining compact portable dimensions with the precise and satisfying typing feel Olympia machines are famous for.

Compared to earlier SM-series models, the Monica introduced a more minimalist and modern design language while preserving the legendary Olympia mechanical quality. Elegant, understated, and highly functional.

The typing action is smooth, precise, and extremely satisfying. Mechanically, the machine feels tight, responsive, and beautifully balanced — exactly as a properly maintained Olympia should.

Its geometric body, contrasting black keys, and iconic red ribbon selector create a timeless mid-century modern aesthetic that works equally well as a functional writing machine or as a striking display piece.
