Relisting due to a non-paying winner.

These are ‘low-cost’ (for B&K) ¼” CCLD/ICP microphone, intended for use in microphone arrays for acoustic imaging (beamforming and acoustic holography) where the precision and cost of Type 1 measurement microphones weren’t required. As a result, the specifications for these microphones were significantly relaxed, especially the tolerances at high and low frequencies where acoustic imaging techniques didn’t work anyway.

 

Nevertheless, B&K couldn’t help themselves make a seriously inferior microphone and, despite only having a defined frequency range between 100Hz and 5kHz (±1dB 100Hz to 3kHz, ±2dB 3kHz to 5kHz pressure-field) customers quickly discovered that they would still perform all the way from 20Hz to 20kHz, albeit with a wider tolerance than a measurement microphone and they found application in many industries and also on production lines for audio devices, ensuring product acoustic quality.

 

I’m listing this for the box of 6 six microphones as they’re almost sequential in serial numbers and come complete with their original box and I didn’t want to split them up. All of them perform significantly better than the specifications require, as you can see from the frequency response  results in the last picture measured with my 4226. They actually meet the specs. of a 4189 microphone above 30Hz.

 

The 4935 is powered via 4mA constant current, known as CCLD in B&K and ICP elsewhere, and is equipped with an SMB connector at the end. No cable is provided with the microphones but if you need one I can supply an unused 2m SMB to BNC cable (AO-0587-D-020) for an additional £10.

 

Setting the starting price at £200 for these six microphones which is a bargain at less than £35 each as they would have set you back around £450 each when they were new.
