This original unsigned screenprint comes from the 'Stones and Bones' (1978) landmark, limited-edition portfolio of prints created by the renowned British John Piper C.H published by Kelpra Editions.
On researching and on back of print it states that an Edition of 50 was printed and 10 artist's proofs.
True to Piper's signature modernist and picturesque style, this print style utilizes cubist layering, assemblage elements, and rich colours. John Piper is considered one of the most important British artists of the 20th century, was born in 1903. He gained recognition as an abstract artist in the mid-1930s, but abandoned the genre for naturalism, concentrating on landscapes and architecture.
Kelpra Studio was a highly influential London printmaking workshop, originally in Kentish Town, north London which became famous for pioneering fine art screen printing by merging commercial techniques with contemporary art. Their studio defined the 60s print scene in London.
