Offered is an authentic antique Japanese lidded ceramic jar, dating to the late Meiji to early Taisho period, circa 1900–1920.
The jar is finished in a deep olive-green crackle glaze and decorated with a hand-applied silver dragon motif, featuring the traditional three-clawed Japanese dragon, a defining symbol of Japanese iconography. The silver decoration is applied over the glaze, not transfer-printed, confirming early production.
The body displays natural, original crazing throughout, consistent with age and traditional Japanese glaze chemistry. The form, scalloped rim, and matching lid are characteristic of Japanese export wares of the Meiji era.
Condition:
Very good antique condition. Minor edge chips consistent with age and use. Original silver decoration shows light, even wear, not worn through. No cracks or repairs. Original crazing throughout.
