This is a Great Northern 40 foot single door boxcar with roof walk.  The doors open and close.  The car and box are in perfect condition and there are Micro-Train price tags on the box.

In the 1950s when almost all boxcars were brown, or boxcar red officially, the Great Northern Railroad decided to paint a group of cars different colors with different graphics and solicit opinions on which were most eye-catching.  These later became known as "Circus Cars" for their bright colors.

 The GN 18588 car has a build date of August 1949 and is painted bright red with white printing.  The car has end printing.
