Side 1. The Reason We Didn't Sound Like The Smiths
Side 2. They Call It War

Billy Childish clearly feels 'The Reason We Didn't Sound Like The Smiths' still needs explaining and there's something endearing about making a song of it. Taken from Children Of The Sect, the Medway veterans' latest garage-rock offering answers its own question with a thoroughly disreputable racket here. The joke works because Thee Headcoats remain so committed to the sound they're defending - you suspect they'd argue about a guitar tone long after everyone else had gone home. The exclusive 'They Call It War' completes the single.
