The Phantom illustration from the late 1990s revival of the Captain Action franchise, featuring linework by Carmine Infantino. Developed by the Ideal Toy Company as a competitive response to Hasbro's G.I. Joe, Captain Action was a briefly produced but fondly remembered action figure and comic book series for boys during the late 1960s. The franchise was revived 30 years later by retro toy company Playing Mantis, resulting in new figures and costumes featuring other comic book characters like Kato, Flash Gordon, and the Lone Ranger. It is accompanied by an overlapping traced sketch that was used in marketing materials like box art for the late 90s revival line. It has a lightly circulated manner of appearance, with the blue trace sketch taped to the original sketch along the top edge so it can be flipped over.
