Pinkard, a pioneering African American composer and publisher, frequently collaborated with Tracey, a white lyricist. Their most enduring contribution to the Great American Songbook is the 1930 jazz standard "Them There Eyes" (co-written with Doris Tauber.) Pinkard is best known for composing "Sweet Georgia Brown." He was one of the most successful Black songwriters of his time. Good condition (some light age-toning and some creasing at bottom with small 1/4-in tears at bottom edge that have been repaired on the back with clear tape.)
