This is a stunning piece of Ecclesiastical carving. This is the frontage from the pulpit of a fabulous 1930's Dundee church that was demolished relatively recently. The four Apostles, Mark as king lion, Luke the lowly servant ox, Matthew the angel and John the eagle. Known as a tetramorph, winged evangelical figures, these carved in a 1930's Art Deco style. Attatched is an image of the pulpit compete before demolition.. The Celtic entrelac and the connection to the book of Kells are all there on the pulpit. I would love to know who designed this piece. The church was designed by Frank Thomson and built 1932 and completed with an annexe in 1938. It measures 92.5cm by 68.5cm and is in good condition.
