Up for sale is a fantastic piece of childhood nostalgia: a Vintage 1970 Fisher-Price Jack-in-the-Box Puppet (Model #138). This is the scarcer "Made in Great Britain" variant issued under the Division of Quaker Oats Ltd.
Unlike traditional metal wind-up music boxes, this classic toy operates purely on mechanical button power. It has been tested and is FULLY WORKING! Press the front yellow "Push to Open" button and the lid firmly pops open to reveal the jester puppet inside. The secondary lower lever works perfectly to mechanically move the puppet’s facial features while cleanly sounding the internal voice squeaker exactly as it should.
Condition Report:
This toy is in Very Good Vintage / Fully Operational Condition, showing clean, honest play wear from the last 50+ years. Please examine the photos closely to see the exact condition details:
• Mechanics: 100% functional. The pop-up spring, mouth movement, and internal voice mechanism all operate smoothly.
• Plastic Casing & Base: The red lid frame, hinges, main cream tower, and red base panel are strong and solid. No cracks, deep chips, or breaks anywhere. The buttons press easily.
• Puppet & Fabric: The jester's plastic face paint remains beautifully vibrant with rosy pink cheeks and crisp black eyes. There is very minor, typical paint rubbing on the orange hair ridges at the back of the head. The red and white gingham fabric body remains bright and intact.
• Paper Lithographs: The paper graphics covering the sides and top lid are 100% original and fully present. They display minor vintage edge wear, light surface smudging/scuffs, and small, typical areas of paper lifting near the seams, but the circus artwork remains wonderfully clear and colorful.
