Description
Megabass iPX-16, new in box. Color: Baby Kingyo.
The deeper of the two new iPX crankbaits, released in late September 2026. The series comes out of a collaboration between Yuki Ito and Brandon Palaniuk, the B.A.S.S. Elite Series pro.
The core of it is the Forward Roll Center of Gravity Shift System (patent pending): two large high-density tungsten weights move freely along separate rails inside the body. On the cast they travel back for distance; as the bait begins to dive they shift forward to the limit, tipping the centre of gravity into a forward-rolling vector that drives a steep dive angle. The bait reaches its range fast and stays there longer, which is what actually decides a deep-cranking retrieve.
The lip is cut with polygonal holes that grip water pressure from any diving angle, holding the action steady where a conventional lip would blow out. The tall body produces a hard, edged high-pitch action with heavy water displacement and an aggressive flashing profile.
On bottom contact it deflects off cover and recovers immediately, so it keeps digging rather than tracking off line — a digging action that holds contact through a long dead-slow retrieve along the bottom.
About the color: Kingyo is the Japanese goldfish. It is not a wild baitfish but an ornamental one, bred in Japan since the sixteenth century and sold at summer festival stalls, where children scoop them from tubs with paper nets. Goldfish released or escaped into ponds and canals are real forage for Japanese bass, and the pattern has become a staple colour in domestic lures: orange-red flank, high visibility, nothing subtle about it.
