This torch supersedes the previous design and improves on it. A large separate 'O'-ring seals the lens housing; the batteries are isolated in a grey painted and non-conductive inner metal tube, and is complete with a conical compression spring at the end of the battery housing to lock three 'D-size', 1.5 volt dry cell batteries in place. No batteries included.Siebe Gorman divers torch stamped to the side with 'SIEBE GORMAN' and 'NSN-6230-99-520-1611' and dated 1968. N-S-N being Nato stock number. These torches have been manufactured since the 1920's. This is the rarer example not being the four prong, bulls eye lens with wrist strap variety. This particular 'slide switch' 1.8kg torch was manufactured in the UK between 1967 and 1969. This doesn't have a wrist strap like the later torches do but has a lanyard hole on the end plate.
