Up for auction/sale is a highly collectible, authentic Wagner Ware Sidney -O- No. 9 Cast Iron Round Roaster complete with its matching No. 9 Patented "Drip Drop" Skillet Cover/Lid.
Wagner Ware pieces from this era are famous for their incredibly smooth cooking surfaces and lightweight, high-quality casting. This set features the iconic concentric "sawtooth" starburst pattern on the underside of the lid, engineered to perfectly self-baste your food while roasting.
Markings & Authenticity:
- Roaster Base: Crisply stamped with the stylized "Wagner Ware Sidney -O-" logo, "ROUND ROASTER", and the size number "9".
- Lid Interior: Features the clear size marking "9" in the center and full patent dates along the rim: "PATENTED DEC. 4-17 MCH. 8-21 MCH. 14-22 FEB. 10-20".
- Lid Exterior: Stamped "WAGNER" and "DRIP DROP ROASTER".
Measurements:
- Diameter: Approximately 11 inches (rim to rim, excluding handles).
- Depth: Approximately 4 1/2 inches deep.
Condition Report:
- Cooking Surface: Excellent vintage condition. The interior is wonderfully smooth with minor, typical utensil marks/scratches from age.
- Flaws to Note: There is a distinct, small casting anomaly or pit on the inside bottom edge (highlighted with a pointer pen in the photos). This is a factory manufacturing artifact and does not affect the structural integrity or performance of the iron. A few casting imperfections on the lid as well (see photos)
- Cleanliness: Fully cleaned and seasoned. It is completely ready to be put to work in your kitchen or proudly displayed in your collection.
- Flatness: Sits flat & no cracks!
