Check the fit, the glow and the cleaning: Measure the gap between the lugs on your watch – the two horns the strap sits between – and make sure it is 22mm; easiest is to take the old strap off and measure that. The glow is charged by light, not by a battery: a few minutes in daylight or under a lamp and it glows brightly at first, then fades over the following minutes the way luminous watch hands do. And a white strap wants a wipe more often than a dark one: warm soapy water and an old toothbrush along the edges keeps it looking new, and doing it weekly is far easier than rescuing it after a month.

White silicone picks up marks from denim, dark leather and dye more readily than darker colours – that is normal for any pale strap rather than a fault, and regular cleaning keeps on top of it. Take care with the spring bars when fitting it, as it is easy to scratch a case with a sharp tool.
