Antique small wooden dovetail box / instrument or tool case, dating approximately to the late 19th or early 20th century, circa 1890–1920.
Measures approximately 5.5” x 4.25” x 3”.
Constructed with dovetail corner joints and old metal hinges. The interior shows wooden supports and evidence that there was originally a divider or fitted insert, which is now missing. The exact original purpose of the box is unknown.
Condition: Antique used condition with significant age-related wear. The wood has dried and shrunk over time, causing several dovetail joints to loosen and separate. The lid does not close tightly. Interior divider/inserts are missing. There are scratches, surface wear, discoloration, small cracks, edge wear, oxidation to the hardware, and other signs of age and use.
The box has been left in its old/original condition and has not been restored.
