A Story of Wealth, Ritual, and Conquest
The reverse, created by Mgr. Art. Miroslav Hric, ArtD., shows Moctezuma II in the foreground. Behind him, Spanish conquistadors loot an Aztec temple. A gold‑inlay mask glows among the scene, symbolizing the spiritual value the Aztecs placed on gold. In addition, the artwork captures the clash between two worlds—one driven by ritual and architecture, the other driven by conquest and greed.
An Obverse Framed in Aztec Ornament
The obverse features an Aztec warrior facing a Spanish conqueror. Surrounding them is an ornate Aztec pattern. Because the coin is issued under Niue’s license, the obverse also carries the coat of arms, the 5 Dollar denomination, and the 2026 date. The antique finish strengthens the historical tone and deepens the sculpted detail.

The coin weighs 42.16 g, uses Ag 999.9 silver with 999 gold inlay, and measures 50 mm. The gold elements stand out sharply against the antique surface. Because of this, the piece feels like an artifact—something lifted from a temple rather than struck in a modern mint.
