A worn Meggendorfer moveable toy book, with all 8 illustrations. It measures approx 32.9cm x 23.7cm x 1.7cm. As can be seen from the images, the cloth spine is lacking and there looks to have been attempts to crudely secure the boards at some time, thus the pictorial printed boards are rather worn with surface loss, and a bit marked and grubby. The extremities are rubbed, bumped and worn. Internally, there have been further crude attempts to secure the boards to the inner edges first and last leaves with strong cloth/tape, which is partially holding to to front but come free to rear. The contents are rather worn, cracked and splitting apart, with the thick leaves torn to the inner edges and separating and straining from each other, in varying degrees. There is pale pencil scribbling and pale colour staining scattered throughout. There is scattered grubbiness, foxing. Several of the plates have little parts missing, see images closely. The mechanisms in the 'Swans' does not work and thus the parts do not move, and swan is lacking a head. All the other plates move to some degree. The feeding paddle that the Parrott sits on is mostly lacking and parts torn. In the Camel illustration a boy is lacking a hand and the other his stick, see images. As can be seen from close inspection of the images the tabs are worn, chipped and creased/frayed, and there are tears to edges and around the slits. The 'Blacksmith' has some tearing/peeling and a little loss to inner edges. There is a small original booksellers ticket to the lower edge of the rear inside board. 

Leaf of Preface, and 8 scenes, as called for. 7 of which have some movement.

The Blacksmith, The Tortoise, The Swans, The Parrot, The Schoolmaster, Washing Day, The Student's Dog and The Camel (this appears to be an early edition, as in later editions, the Camel was changed to a young man scrubbing an elephant).

Scarce in any condition.

  • We offer FREE UK domestic shipping, fully tracked and insured.
  • We use several services for overseas shipping, under 5kg usually shipped via Royal Mail Tracked. Heavier shipments or faster courier services are available, and we will do our best to accommodate your preferred method.

Packaging
All our books will be carefully and securely packaged in custom made book boxes (The majority of which are produced Carbon Neutral). The Bubble packaging and boxes are all recyclable, and most tape used is environmentally friendly (we are constantly researching ways to reduce our environmental impact without compromising safe, secure and affordable shipping). We aim to send all items within 24-48 hours of payment.

Returns Policy
If you are unhappy in any way, for whatever reason, with the transaction or the item, please contact us as soon as possible. Your item is fully refundable if not as described.
