Rare Vintage German Lens A. Schacht München Travenar 85mm f/2.8 M42 Screw Mount 16-Blade Preset Aperture Zebra Prime Portrait Lens in Excellent Condition

Up for sale is a highly collectible and very rare vintage portrait lens: the A. Schacht München Travenar 85mm f/2.8 with a native M42 screw mount. Made in Germany, this legendary lens features a classic optical design known for its unique rendering, beautiful vintage contrast, and painterly bokeh. One of the most outstanding features of this lens is its 16-blade preset aperture system, which retains a perfectly circular opening at any f-stop, producing legendary round bokeh balls. The mechanical preset system includes a locking button mechanism that allows you to easily preset and quickly cycle your aperture before taking a shot. This original M42 version is highly sought after by collectors and vintage lens enthusiasts because it can be easily adapted to almost any modern DSLR or mirrorless camera system.

Condition

The lens is in excellent, fully functional condition. The aluminum body shows minimal signs of wear and looks great for its age. Mechanically, the lens is in perfect working order. The focus ring turns smoothly and evenly. The dual aperture preset mechanism operates flawlessly; the locking button functions perfectly, and both rings rotate smoothly. Optically, the glasses are clean and clear. There are no signs of fungus, haze, separation, or scratches. As with any vintage lens of this era, minor internal dust particles or faint micro-cleaning marks might be visible under close inspection, which is completely normal and has absolutely no impact on image quality.
