In the Year 1661

A slim pamphlet, rebound in half leather with marbled paper covered boards. Measuring approx. 20.3cm x 15.5cm x 0.6cm. Title label lacking. The spine is scuffed and is chipped to top and bottom (more so to bottom edge and leather peeling). Lot label to top of front board. Couple of scuffed patches to leather to either side. Worn and dulled. Board edges scuffed and bumped and corners bit chipped. Outer page edges dyed red. Internally there are more recent endpapers to front and rear. Large ink inscription to inside front board. Contemporary inscription to verso of earlier rear blank. The title page is grubby and toned, is brittle to edges and has rust hole to lower margin (and following leaf). Couple of small worm runs/chips to margins throughout, with a couple of holes in places. Two leaves of the Epistle Dedicatory have been mis-printed and are at an angle (one leaf of which has loss to heading, see photos). Patchy staining throughout and some grubbiness. Thumbed and lightly grubby and toned. Lacking Verse? to rear (3 or 4 leaves) Some corner chips and occasional marginal nicks. In readable condition.

Part of the famous Pierrepont Family who were influential in the Civil War.
 
Francis Pierrepont (died 1659) was an English politician who fought in the Parliamentary army in the English Civil War, and was colonel of Nottinghamshire Trained Bands.
