POSEIDON ANCIENT GREEK COIN AND A GENUINE PEARL WOODEN BOX PRESENTATION SET

Besides the father of the gods, Zeus, Poseidon is the best-known god of Greek mythology. The god of the seas, who is always armed with a mighty trident was also represented on coins.

This bronze Litra coin stems from the Kingdom of Syracuse (Sicily), a Greek city- state, and was minted in the 3rd century BC under the rule of King Hieron (Hiero) II. Thus, the image of Poseidon is depicted on the obverse and his legendary trident on the reverse.

This fascinating coin of the god of the seas is complemented by a treasure from his empire: a beautiful genuine pearl. Even in ancient Greece, people succumbed to the fascination of the pearl.

This wonderful dual set provides an insight into Ancient Greece and comes packaged in a wooden presentation box with informative inlay cards included.
