Authentic Japanese woodblock print based on the renowned work by Utagawa Hiroshige (1797–1858), titled Hara: Mount Fuji in the Morning, from the series Fifty-three Stations of the Tōkaidō Road.
This composition depicts the Hara station on the Tokaido Road, where travelers pass through the area with Mount Fuji rising dramatically in the background. Hiroshige emphasizes the immense scale of Mount Fuji by allowing its snow-covered peak to extend beyond the upper edge of the composition, creating a striking and memorable design.
The scene is set in the area of present-day Numazu, Shizuoka Prefecture. The snow-covered Mount Fuji is illuminated by the morning light, creating a strong contrast with the travelers and landscape below.
Originally designed in the early 1830s, Hara: Mount Fuji in the Morning is one of the best-known designs from Hiroshige's Fifty-three Stations of the Tōkaidō Road. The original work is a horizontal ōban color woodblock print.
This later edition was hand-printed in Kyoto using original woodblocks of the Unsodo edition. Each impression was carefully produced by skilled traditional woodblock printers using traditional Japanese woodblock printing techniques.
