>Offered here for your consideration is an old and original 1998 University of Oregon Heisman Trophy autographed media card featuring Heisman candidate AKILI SMITH!! Please see both photos, as they are an important part of my description. This scarce promotional card measures approximately 9" x 6" with a glossy front. This card was intended to be mailed to a national media member to promote Oregon Ducks quarterback Akili Smith for college football's Heisman Trophy but was never postally mailed. The card is cleverly based on the Hollywood movie "Mr. Smith goes to Washington" starring Jimmy Stewart, but "Washington" is crossed out and "New York" (where the Heisman Trophy is awarded) is substituted in its place. The card's reverse shows Akili Smith's game statistics through the first five games of the 1998 season (all victories), with six more games yet to be played. There are accompanying quotes about Smith from sportscaster Brent Musburger, Washington State Cougars coach Mike Price, Stanford Cardinal coach Tyrone Willingham and Oregon head coach Mike Bellotti. The U. of O. most likely sent out a limited number of these signed promotional cards to the Heisman voters in the media...good luck finding another example!

For accuracy's sake, there is a piece of tape present on the card's reverse at the top of the blank portion (top/right side) that should be visible in my photo.
