Here is an antique, large heavy pewter elephant ice cream mold.   It measures about 9 inches in length and is 6 inches tall and weighs almost 14 pounds unwrapped.  The outside of the mold is identified as "44" on each side.  The mold has small raised alignment guides along the inner seams.  It does not have a hinge - and there is no evidence there was one.  The mold does not show a maker's name or mark.  Because these old mold were often alloyed with lead, it is recommended that it should be used for display only.   Please see the pictures and ask any questions.
