This street-smart 1976 gem was the latest artistic progression in an impressive career dossier that also included the magnificent achievement of the Velvet Underground, Reed's 1972 solo classic Transformer and the aggressively avant garde electronics of Metal Machine Music. Reed's vocals never sounded more intimate than they did on Coney Island Baby, backed by the Down-Trodden Three featuring the killer drumming of Michael Suchorsky. Six dazzling 1975 bonus tracks are added, including four cuts with Doug Yule, last guitarist of the Velvet Underground. Coney Island Baby has never sounded this good before.
