On the day of its 110th anniversary, New Balance (a Boston-based brand with factories all over the world) is celebrating another milestone: the 20th anniversary of its classic 999 sneaker.
To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the New Balance 999, which first debuted in 1996, the brand is releasing this model in a tribute to the original in a gray colorway (officially called Outer Space with Steel).
The updated 999 features a predominantly mesh upper, a nubuck suede heel and logo, and a REVLITE outsole. Instead of the traditional heavy suede overlays, the Re-Engineered version features a seamless perforated design that makes the sneaker significantly lighter and more breathable, and the toe box is made of high-quality laser-perforated suede for improved ventilation.



This release was presented for the 20th anniversary of the classic 999 silhouette, which first debuted in 1996. The colorway of the model was officially named Outer Space/Steel (dark gray with a blue tint and steel elements) as a modern reinterpretation of one of the first original colors.
