Vintage Japanese Samurai Armor Yoroi by Takemaro – Gold Dragon Kabuto
This exceptional vintage Japanese samurai armor was crafted in Kyoto, Japan in 1982 by Japanese armor craftsman Takemaro (竹麻呂).
Its most striking feature is the powerful gold dragon ornament rising from the kabuto, combined with pure gold-plated decorative metalwork, gold-finished armor plates, and vivid yellow odoshi lacing.
Please note: This armor is for display purposes only and cannot be worn.
HIGHLIGHTS
• The original maker plaque identifies this piece as Kyo Kacchu (Kyoto armor) by Takemaro.
• The kabuto features a dramatic hand-carved wooden dragon, finished with gold leaf.
• The dragon holds a genuine agate bead (本めのう玉), presented as a sacred jewel motif.
• The maedate features pure gold plating.
• Gold-finished iron armor plates are combined with vivid yellow odoshi lacing.
• Deep black details create a strong contrast against the gold and yellow elements.
• The original maker nameplate is included.
The combination of the gold dragon, genuine agate jewel, brilliant gold surfaces, and yellow lacing gives this armor a distinctive and commanding appearance.
In Japanese culture, the dragon has long been associated with power, wisdom, protection, and authority. The jewel held by the dragon evokes the traditional hoju, a symbol associated with good fortune, wisdom, and the fulfillment of wishes.
