An original first issue of Stanton's Exchange, Volume 1, Number 1, published in Smyrna, New York, June-July 1887.

This scarce nineteenth-century amateur exchange and philatelic publication is devoted largely to classified bargains for collectors. Offerings include early amateur papers and books, postage stamps and albums, coins, fossils, minerals, Indian arrowheads and spearheads, printing type, books, theatrical material, musical instruments, engravings, and other curiosities.

A contemporary philatelic bibliography records Stanton's Exchange as an F J Stanton publication issued in only two known numbers during 1887-1888, making this Volume 1, Number 1 an unusually early and short-lived collecting periodical.
