For sale is a legendary vintage Soviet souvenir nightlight lamp named Epoch (also known as Rocket or Cosmos). This specific rare modification was released in the USSR around 1976 to commemorate the 25th Congress of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union, featuring the distinct XXV mark on the base.
The lamp is designed as a stylized space rocket launch with a bright red ribbed plexiglass cone mimicking the rocket exhaust flame. The dark faceted base is decorated with gold-toned embossed propaganda reliefs depicting iconic Soviet achievements: Lunokhod-1, power grid dams, Soviet industrial factories, Cosmonaut Gagarin, Vladimir Lenin profile, and a scientific team holding an atom model.
It is a fantastic collectible piece of Cold War space race history and mid-century space age design.
Condition
The nightlight is fully functional and in good vintage collectible condition. The electrical wiring, switch, and vintage plug are original and working, but since it is a 50-year-old vintage appliance, it should be treated with appropriate care. The plastic parts and red plexiglass are well-preserved without major cracks. The golden reliefs on the base show minor age-appropriate wear and authentic patina. Please see the detailed photos for the exact cosmetic condition.
