Vintage Japanese Samurai Armor Yoroi – “The Shogun of Kyoto”
This is a vintage Japanese samurai armor display set made in Japan during the 1980s by Japanese armor craftsman Heian Senju.
Known as “The Shogun of Kyoto, the Capital of Japan,” this armor features an extraordinary gold dragon maedate holding a natural crystal gemstone, pure gold-plated decorative details, shell inlay, Mount Fuji and Japanese temple motifs, silk odoshi lacing in white, pink, and blue, and elaborate Kyoto-style gold-thread textile work.
A gem testing certificate for the natural crystal is included with the armor.
This is a decorative display armor set only.
It is not wearable and must not be used for protection, cosplay, reenactment, or martial arts practice.
GOLD DRAGON WITH NATURAL CRYSTAL
The centerpiece of the kabuto helmet is a striking golden dragon holding a natural crystal gemstone in its claw.
The combination of the powerful dragon ornament and the clear crystal creates a distinctive and memorable focal point.
The included gem testing certificate identifies the stone as natural rock crystal / quartz.
In Japanese culture, dragons have traditionally been associated with power, wisdom, protection, and authority.
PURE GOLD-PLATED DETAILS
The gold-colored decorative sections throughout the armor are finished with pure gold plating.
The rich brilliance of the gold harmonizes with the crystal gemstone, shell inlay, silk odoshi lacing, and richly patterned Japanese textiles.
SHELL INLAY, MOUNT FUJI & TEMPLE MOTIFS
One of the most distinctive features of this armor is its elaborate Japanese decorative imagery.
The torso incorporates shell inlay and painted details depicting Mount Fuji and traditional Japanese temple architecture.
The fukikaeshi on the sides of the kabuto also feature war fan motifs created with shell inlay.
These details give the armor a distinctly Japanese cultural character beyond its samurai form.
SILK ODOSHI LACING
The armor features beautiful silk odoshi lacing in white, pink, and blue.
Odoshi refers to the traditional cords used to connect the kozane plates and other armor sections.
The combination of white, soft pink, and cool blue adds refinement and visual depth to the gold-finished armor plates.
KYOTO-STYLE GOLD-THREAD TEXTILE WORK
The fabric sections feature decorative techniques associated with Kyoto gold-thread dyeing.

NANBOKUCHO-STYLE DESIGN
This armor is presented in a style inspired by the Nanbokucho period of Japan, 1336–1392.
This armor itself was made in Japan during the 1980s.
It is not an original medieval battle armor set. It is a vintage Japanese decorative work inspired by historical samurai armor traditions.
