Midlands don Surgeon's influence on British techno has rarely been in doubt, with these fresh reinterpretations revealing just how inexhaustible his source material remains. Slam's revision of 'Coaster' is a slow-unfurling exercise in swirling propulsion, all spiralling synth tracery and implacable momentum. Lewis Fautzi sinks even deeper into the fog, trading in cavernous drums and narcotic repetition, and Justyn Nell's reimagining of 'Brownian Motion' hinges on a beautifully poised breakdown that almost stops time, before Norbak signs off with the boldest twist of the four, weaving broken, skippy UK-leaning rhythms into the original's framework.
