This limited-edition iteration picks up where the original CE 22 left off, starting with a select mahogany body and a stunning figured maple top. The instrument retains the CE line’s signature maple bolt-on neck with a traditional 22-fret rosewood fingerboard, along with a set of vintage-inspired 58/15 LT pickups. Additionally, the CE 22 is equipped with updated Phase III locking tuners featuring Wing buttons, as well as the patented PRS Tremolo system to help keep your guitar in tune even during the most intense playing sessions. It all equates to an instrument that blends traditional PRS craftsmanship and modern innovation — plug in and elevate your guitar playing to new heights.

Like its sibling, the CE 24, the time-tested PRS formula of tonewood combinations continues with the CE 22. A show-stopping figured maple top over a mahogany body forms the sonic basis for a complex blend of brightness, sustain, and rich midrange. Warm, yet punchy overtones from the bolt-on maple neck and rosewood fingerboard complete the tonal profile, bringing sonic versatility within your grasp. The Pattern Regular neck offers a natural fit with the curvature of your fret hand for comfortable chord playing and thumb-over-neck playing styles, yet still thin enough to quickly adapt to your rapid-fire solo runs. The satin finish over the maple neck feels slick to the touch, enabling you to shift to any fret position unencumbered and with incredible upper fret access. Everything about the construction and playability of the CE 22 is designed to integrate with your body to the point where you’re no longer holding a guitar — the guitar is now a part of you.

Ear-grabbing 58/15 LT pickups

The CE 22 is all about tonal dexterity, thanks to its complement of proprietary PRS pickups and its versatile switching scheme. Stationed at the bridge and neck is the 58/15 LT, which produces a rich, organic vintage tone. This is the warm and clear sonic elixir that propelled the original 58/15 pickups to the top of many Sweetwater guitarists’ favorite PAF-style humbucker lists. The 58/15 LT is based on that successful design, but it’s wound with fewer wire turns for even more clarity and nuance. Cranked through a good tube amp, the 58/15 LT can produce raging overdrive with fat, snarling tone that nevertheless maintains crystalline note separation within chords. You also get a Master Volume, 3-way toggle switch, and a push-pull equipped Master Tone to split both pickups, giving you access to pristine, glassy-sounding true single-coil tones.
